by 12 shot panorama u mean u took 12 pics n stitched them together rite? n did u like elogate the pic 2 give it a more linear effect ..coz the white car at the foot of the bldg. looks a bit compacted....or mayb im seein things ...or like readin into the pic too much...lol:P

    yes I've stitched 12 shots.....
I have to make the picture look like that cause if I keep it the way it is after stitching, the building looks curved. So in order to make it look the way it does in real (well almost) I had to play with the perspective resulting in the car look compacted...I can fix that but I'm too lazy to spend more than half an hour on a picture...

It might also look "compacted" because of the 18 mm lens, right?

  1. Stained says:

Nope....My lens is an 18mm, but on a 400D with a crop sensor, it becomes 28.6mm(18mm*1.6)...so no compacting due to the lens...anyway I don't think any compacting happens due to a lens unless its a fisheye though I might be wrong!!!

On a 28mm equiv (with the crop factor) the distortion probably won't happen, but distortion definetely happens due to a wide angle lens.

    See this, for example:

    And these two pics:

distortion is different from compacting....you can get distortion even at 50mm....distortion is not the reason for compacting but the steps taken to remove distortion may lead to compacting but that's not the case here..atleast that's what I think
