I was at the top of the City Centre parking taking random pictures trying to kill some time. I spotted this guy sitting in the Metro construction site. While I focused and zoomed in, he looked up and spotted me.

Power lines

I was told by a friend that living near power lines can cause cancer. If this is true, I wonder why power lines are still near housing developments in Quasis, Aweer, Gardens and International City (these are the places I remember). Doesn't having these power lines close by reduce the value of the development or are the people/government/developers ignorant as usual and don't really care.....

Eiffel tower

Was playing around with the idea of product photography but due to the lack of any proper equipment I used makeshift items (like a mirror and white A4 sheet for back ground). This Eiffel tower key chain was one of the objects I used as my subject for my experiment.

Broken Patriotism

I wonder when they are going to start fining people for broken/malfunctioning rear lights because they are a hazard especially when the lights don't work.Shooting Date/Time : 6/22/2008 5:56:57 PM

Patriotism is fine but covering the rear window with a poster is just not safe. Again I wonder how long the Police is going to let people decorate their cars making them a hazard to other cars.

First Sighting!!

This must be the Japanese specification version of the Nissan GT-R (aka the new Skyline) as it's still not available here, from what I know. This is one cool, but a little weird looking car. Gave one of my favorite cars - the Porsche 911 Turbo - a beating in the CAR magazine review....

12 hours of specialness

The Specialness started off at 3pm on Thursday (19th June 2008) when I was picked up by a friend to go for a movie. We headed off to Grand Cineplex, lied to a few other friends to convince them to join us and got the tickets for the Hindi movie 'De Taali' for the 4:45pm show. Then we went and picked up those friends, got back in time for the start of the movie and sat through 2 1/2 hours of lesser torture than I expected. Rephrasing that into a more positive way, I would say the movie was okay (apart from the annoying songs that is). The comedy did make us laugh, the story kept us hooked and the acting was convincing enough. After the movie we lingered around waiting for 'D' and Joce (with a friend) who were headed our way for the 7:30pm show for 'Kung Fu Panda' that I was also invited for but had to refuse due to other commitments (explained later). Anyway, after 'D' telling me not to call her, and Joce calling me names (for not coming with them) we headed out to the car after which my friend dropped the rest of us to our destination (for me being home).

After the film with my friends, it was time for a Dinner outing with my Family. It was my brother's treat and we had decided to go to 'Handi' at the Taj Palace Hotel (I used to think it's a 4 star hotel but ended up being a 5 star). We got there by 8:30pm; ordering took ages as the variety was large and confusing (plus we were 8 1/2 people and it was our first time there). Music was being played by two men (one was singing also) belting out old and new Hindi songs. My niece was enthraled by the musical instruments and kept running off in their direction so one of us had to always be around her, carrying her or running behind her. We were there till 11pm, had a bunch of starters, the main meal and the dessert, a complete three course meal with the waiter serving us instead of letting us serve ourselves (which I prefer). Anyway the starters were good, the main course was okay and the dessert was...erm, well I'm not a big Indian sweet dish lover so my opinion is always biased so I'd say it was okay also. Overall the whole dinner was worth the bill (read: AED1000+)... not because of the food, or the decor or even the music we kept requesting for. It was because we spent 2 1/2 hours for dinner (which is very loooooong for my family) talking, laughing, eating and completely enjoying ourself...

After that we headed back home, rushed to freshen up as we had decided to go for a movie (only my parents and my niece would stay behind). We decided on Kung Fu Panda for a 12am show at Cinestar (DCC). We left home by 11:55, got there in 7minutes. In those 7 minutes, I was wished by 'D' as it was 12am and so it was my birthday. As soon as she called, my mobile battery died out (brilliant timing) and so she was the only one to wish me (apart from my family). We got the tickets and got into the theater just in time. The movie was very good...we kept laughing so much. Me and my siblings always love animated stuff whether it's on TV or the big screen. We all enjoyed it, even my brother-in-law laughed a bit even though he hates animated movies. We got back home at 2am and I slept off at 2:30am (approx) after 12 hours of great fun.

Reality check

I wish somebody (with sufficient power) would do something to help the growing number of people under the poverty line. The number of people going through the trash to collect anything that they can either use or sell has increased over the past year or so. Though I guess the only solution that the authorities might think right is to deport these 'eye-sores' (sarcasm intended) from the city.
