Moong Dal

I was washing 'Moong Dal' or 'Split Green Gram'(I think that is what it's called) today for lunch and I see the water turn yellow. Now it's been a few years since the first time I realized Dal had some artificial coloring added to it but it used to be quite less as compared to today. The water had turned so yellow that it looked like I had literally added yellow paint to it. So if I had taken a few more cups of Dal, I could seriously use it to dye a white shirt yellow......

So basically however healthy we eat, such artificial chemicals do end up in our stomachs some way or another........Life sucks that way!!!!Shooting Date/Time : 7/21/2008 12:05:27 PM

    It looks like corn :)
Dye a shirt, eh? That's way too much artificial coloring!

    Yes is does... :D
Well it won't turn the shirt yellow but it'll surely turn it into something in between off-white and yellow....lets just say it'll be a shade of 'cream' not that it's any less amount of coloring...

I'm with neel-looks like corn. Reminds me of the "cup of corn" that they sell in Lamcy Plaza's food court.

Why add dye? *Shaking head* Doesn't the recipe call for tumeric which would naturally change it to a brighter yellow?

They will add dye to make it look more pleasant to the human eye which would entice us to purchase it....
