Construction Site!!!!

Seems like a construction site is being set up at Muraqqabat street where during DSF they used to set up the rides and game stalls. I am kinda upset about it. I'm not saying that the DSF thing was a great place to hang out or anything. The thing is, that piece of land was used by adults to jog and exercise while the kids used to cycle away. Also you would sometimes see a bunch of people playing football or cricket. I myself have played a bit of football there. It had become like a park without the greenery (apart from one old tree). Why that piece of land was chosen was simply because it was not all sand and stones. A part of it was paved for the monster truck show that happened during DSF 2007. So people preferred to use the paved part for whatever they did. So basically I believe they should have made a small park there but Dubai seems to not believe in the concept of community parks unless you live in one of those fancy places. I know we've got Mamzaar Park a few kilometers away but who would drive there everyday for a jog? And if you happen to go there on weekends, it's like having a picnic with 100 other families. A few other reasons for me being upset is that I like the area I live in; it was more open from the urban jungle I had come from (3 years of Karama). I could see as far as Grand Hyatt from my window and now I'll be lucky enough to see around the corner. Also I worry about the old tree on this piece of land. What is to happen to it is quite obvious. Who cares about a old tree? Anyway here I am ranting about a piece of land when there are more things to worry about in this world. But my world is a small cocoon built around me and it seems to be crumbling quite fast...

A few pictures as always...

The lack of community parks in the UAE is truly a shame. So many people with families and no place for the kids to play. I would like to see the government secure land for city park use before it's all sold off.

All the land in the city seems to be already sold off by looks of it. So the government will surely not buy it back especially with prices out of the roof to make a park....pathetic!!!
