Woke up today to numerous tweets about yesterdays six car pileup in Jumeirah that resulted in one death. You can read more about it here and here.
The moron driving the SUV should be named and shamed publicly in every news paper and given a long jail term because technically he just killed a person. But that won't happen. In the end, I won't be surprised if this goes down the 'Blood money + Moron walks free' route.
'Beware, speed makes you a killer' should be more appropriate...are you listening RTA...
I'm sorry but speed doesnt kill. if that were true I'd have been dead ages ago.
Look into the story closely. 1st car's lost control not because of speeding, there were probably 100 other cars speeding on that road. But it lost control because of it's faulty tires.
And the authorities know that proper tire upkeep is an issue in the UAE as they had that whole check your tires campaign last year and were giving out tickets for people who's tires were not safe.
Next, the other 4 cars hit that 1st car because of one simple reason... FOLLOWING to closely.
Again, this is a known issue as the police has a campaign against that about 6 years ago.
So the title of your post is dead wrong. The reasons for this were:
1. Bad tires
2. Following too closely.
Everyone in this crash were a part of it because they simply were not driving in a decent manner, did not take their car's upkeep seriously, and didn't heed the police campaigns of late.
